Welcome

The Cimarron Heritage Center (CHC) Museum consists of over 3.5 acres of hands-on type exhibits and historical buildings.  To be seen here includes: 


Cimmy

Upon arrival, be greeted by “Cimmy”, an 18,000 pound replica of the Apatosaurus dinosaur.

The Tin Man

The Tin man, a 13 foot tall replica of the Wizard of Oz character, waves hello as you drive up to the museum.

The Cox House

The main entry for the museum. In the Cox house you will find the administrative offices, museum gift shop, art gallery, textile room and the Santa Fe Trail Exhibit.

The Santa Fe Trail Exhibit

This exhibit starts your journey into the museum. It features life on the Santa Fe Trail by interpretation, pictures and artifact traces found on the trail through Cimarron County.

The French Building

The French Building houses the main museum exhibits. Upon entrance to the building (accessed from The Cox House) you will be greeted by the skull and upper body of a Saurophaganax dinosaur in the Paleontology exhibit.  Then meander thru the Military, Ranch, Dust Bowl, Jack Hoxie,  Folker, General Store and doctor exhibits to name a few.

School House

Browse thru the one-room school house featuring items from Cimarron County area schools

Dust Bowl House  Ever wonder what it must have been like during the dust bowl era? Visit the Dust Bowl House and see what folks of Cimarron County (and beyond) endured every day during that period.

Santa Fe Depot

The 1925 depot building features railroad items, a coal room, the creamery and a blacksmith shop.

Agricultural Building

Home of numerous restored antique tractors and implements.

Edgington Building

A step back in time featuring antique cars – including a 1941 Packard,  a 1919 REO Truck and a 1916 Dort Hearse, windmills, banking items, wagons and carriages.

The Dugout 

Visit the old dugout to see how some folks started out in Cimarron County

Boise City Bombing come and see our display and one of the actual practice bombs!



 


ADMISSION:

There is no admission fee.  Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.
